Seminar Highlights the Sustainability of Rice Cultivation in Valencia’s Albufera Natural Park

On Monday, 5 May 2025, the seminar “Valencia’s rice as an example of the sustainable benefits of rice cultivation in the Albufera Natural Park” was successfully held in El Palmar (València), on Camino Vicente Baldoví.

The event, organised by DOP Arroz de Valencia, brought together stakeholders from the agri-food sector to explore the vital link between growing European rice and sustainability in one of Spain’s most iconic natural ecosystems. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the environmental benefits of traditional European rice farming in Albufera, which supports biodiversity, preserves local heritage and promotes a balanced coexistence between agriculture and nature.

The experts highlighted the role of DOP certified rice in maintaining sustainable practices and protecting the unique wetland ecosystem. The seminar concluded with an open discussion and tasting of local products based on European rice, highlighting the quality and tradition behind Valencia’s rice.
