The four-day educational trip (September 22–25) to Thessaloniki and Halastra concluded with great success, featuring the participation of journalists and opinion leaders. The initiative aimed to highlight the high quality, nutritional value, and safety of Greek rice, as well as to introduce participants to the unique ecosystem of the Axios Delta.
During the four days, attendees toured the country’s largest rice paddock in Halastra, where local producers informed them about sustainable farming practices. In addition, they visited cooperative processing facilities to learn about strict European packaging and safety standards, while the trip concluded with culinary tastings of dishes based on domestic rice varieties.
Guests departed impressed by the warm hospitality, the passion of the local people, and the high level of expertise behind one of Greece’s most dynamic agricultural products.
